When our supplier recently restricted Guinness to a single-barrel per week, in circumstances beyond the club’s control, it left the club wondering what they were going to replace it with. The Caffreys brand was revived at the start of the year and their Black Stout has proved really popular among club members. Even some hardened Guinness fans have enjoyed the switch too
History
The Caffrey brewing family first brewed beer in Dublin in the late 18th century, about thirty years after the Guinness Brewery was founded. They too sited their brewery on the River Liffey, a few hundred yards east of the Guinness site.

It offers a creamy, velvety, and sessionable draught experience with a flavour profile featuring roasted malt, cocoa, and subtle caramel notes. It serves as a competitively priced alternative to other mainstream stouts, in particular, Guinness and is available in all our club bars.
