Last night, LESC hosted a darts tournament as both teams had no BDL games this week.
17 players signed on for a Group Round-Robin and KO format.
In Group 1 Gaz Troth blitzed his opponents qualifying without losing a match or leg. Dean Caswell and Steve Brunn qualified 2nd and 3rd. In Group 2 Steve Groves qualified unbeaten joined by Dylan Rowe. Group 3 saw Paul Prince beat Billy Cowsill for the group decider and in Group 4 Matt Anthony finished top with Ed McManus 2nd.
In the Losers KO, Alvin Holland was beaten by Jasper Brunn 2-1 in a close match. In the 2nd quarter-final Jason Evans took out Mark Wynn-Smith 2-0 to setup the first simi-final. In the 2nd half of the draw, Daniel Prince beat Jim Mildner 2-0 and Cameron Meakin saw off Geoff Nokes 2-0 too
In the first semi-final, Jason despatched Jasper 2-0 to setup a final with Cameron Meakin who did the same to Daniel Prince
In the final, Jason and Cameron went toe-to-toe taking the match to a deciding leg. Both had nervy darts to win but it was Cameron that edged it to win in the end 3-2. Great match.
In the Main KO, Ed McManus saw off Steve Brunn 2-0 in the only round of 16 match to setup a quarter-final with Paul Prince. In that match Ed got on the board first but Paul fought back to take it 2-1. In the 2nd quarter-final, Gaz Troth couldn’t repeat his group form and lost 2-0 to Steve Groves. In the 3rd quarter-final Matt Anthony was given a game by Dean Caswell but got over the line first 2-1 to setup a 2nd semifinal with Dylan Rowe who took out Billy Cowsill 2-0.
In the first semi-final Paul’s best darts of the night weren’t good enough to beat an imperious Steve Groves who won 2-0. In the 2nd semi it was a closer affair between Dylan and Matt Anthony who edged it 2-1
In the final, Steve opened the taps a again and steam rollered Matt Anthony 3-0 to take the match and the tournament.
