Lickey A and B Teams were in action last night. Lickey A hosted Golden Lion from Charford and Lickey B were away to the Dog and Pheasant
Geoff Nokes kicked off Lickey A’s account with a strong 2-0 win in Game 1. In Game 2, Paul Prince opened well winning leg 1 but a scrappy leg 2 let Golden back in. In a tight 3rd leg Paul wired a D16 to take it then Golden took it 1-2. In Game 3 it was a similar story for Jason Evans with Golden nipping it 1-2. Steve Groves despatched his opponent 2-0 in Game 4 and Lickey regained the lead in Game 5 with Gaz Troth winning 2-0 with a 180 in there too . Ed McManus lost Game 6 0-2 which meant going into the doubles, the match was poised at 3-3
Steve and Paul lined up for Game 7 and made light work of it winning 2-0. Russell Tolley and Jim Mildner echoed that scoreline with anothr 2-0 win in Game 8 which handed Lickey the overall win. There was more of a game in the final match of the night but Gaz and Geoff got over the line 2-1. Final score 6-3.
For Lickey B, Matt Anthony continued his long run of wins this season opening the scoreline 0-2. Cam Meakin backed that win up with another in Game 2 1-2. The Dog stopped the rot in Games 3 and 4, bringing the scoreline level with 2-0 wins against Billy Cowsill and Dean Caswell. Dylan Rowe depatched his opponent 0-2 to give Lickey the lead again but The Dog hit straight back 2-0 against Mark Wynn-Smith to make the scoreline 3-3 going into the doubles.
In Game 7, Dylan and Cam edged their match 1-2 then Dean and Matt sealed the overall win 0-2 in their game. In the final match, The Dog took it 2-0 against Steve Brunn and Roy Davies. Final Score 4-5
