The Darts Teams are into the final stages of the BDL Summer League now with Lickey End A away for the final match at Millfields Social Club last night while Lickey End B hosted The Hop Pole B in their penultimate match of the season.
It was a close one for Lickey A. In the opening match Geoff Nokes had darts to win but was closely beaten 2-1. Jason Evans levelled the score in Game 2 with another close 1-2 win. Steve Groves and Paul Prince despatched their opponents 0-2 but Paul ‘Rosie’ Read and Gaz Troth both lost their games 0-2 to make the score level 3-3 going into the doubles, despite a 180 from Gaz.
In Game 7, Jason and Rosie lost 2-0 handing the advantage to Millfields. Paul and Steve bounced back from a leg down to keep Lickey in the match and take it to a decider but Millfields soundly beat EdMcManus and Gaz 2-0 to take the match 5-4
Despite losing their final match of the season it shouldn’t make any difference to their final league position, 2nd in Division 2. Overall a great season for the A Team.
It was a wholly different story for Lickey B who romped to a 9-0 win in their home game vs The Hop Pole B. In the singles matches, Matt Anthony, Cameron Meakin, Billy Cowsill, Colin McKinley, Dean Caswell and Steve Brunn all won 2-0 with a 180 from Steve too, taking the match before a doubles game had even started.
In Game 7 Hop Pole avoided the whitewash winning a leg against Matt and Mark Wynn-Smith but lost 2-1. Dylan Rowe and Cameron despatched Hop Pole 2-0 to leave Alvin Holland and Roy Davies to complete the full set in the final match 2-1.
An awesome effort from the B Team. They have their final matrch of the season next week away to at Stoke Prior club
