Lickey End A hosted Black Cross last night in the latest round of the BDL. Lickey End B had a week off.
In Game 1 Geoff Nokes gave Black Cross a handy start losing 0-2. In Game 2, Ed McManus, on paper, probably should have lost to their best player but clawed his way back in each leg to a fantastic 2-0 win. Jim Mildner didn’t really get going which echoed Lickey’s night, losing 0-2. In Game 4 Russ Tolley should have put his opponent away 2-0 but lost a close one 1-2. It was a similar story for Paul Prince, he wired a double 7 for the match but Black Cross got over the line again 1-2. In Game 6, Gaz Troth gave Lickey a glimmer with a solid 2-0 win leaving it 2-4 going into the doubles.
In Game 7, Russ and Jim gave Black Cross another close game but they scraped over the line to take it 1-2 and the match. Paul and Gaz were put to bed 0-2 and Geoff and Ed were undone 0-2 too. Final score 2-7
