LESC hosted a bumper 23 player darts tournament last night. With both darts teams now out of the BDL Summer Cup its presented a rare opportunity for both teams to play and we invited 7 players from Blackwell Club too.

The format was a Round-Robin + Knockout format. 3 x Groups of 6 and a Group 5 saw the top 2 qualify, top 3 in the Group of 5.

In Group 1, Steve Groves qualified out of the group followed by Matt Anthony. In Group 2 Dean Caswell and Steve Brunn, took the honours. In Group 3, Will Westwood went unbeaten with Garry Troth in second place. In the Group of 5, three qualified. Geoff Nokes, Rich Rotkirch and Jason Evans scraping through in 3rd spot.

Due to an uneven number of qualifiers there was one Round-of-16 KO match between Garry Troth and Jason Evans to determine the quarter-final spots. In a close game, Garry got over the line taking it 2-1

In the first QF, Steve Groves bettered Garry 2-1 to progress. Geoff Nokes undid Dean Caswell 2-0 to setup a meeting with Steve in the first semi.

In the second half of the draw, Will Westwood beat his Blackwell teammate 2-0 to setup a 2nd semi with Matt Anthony who ground out a 2-1 win in his QF against Steve Brunn.

Both semi-finals were a one-sided affair. Steve Groves despatched Geoff 2-0 and Will Westwood opened the taps on Matt Anthony with a 73 average to take his semi-final 2-0 too.

The final was a must closer affair and an entertaining match. Steve and Will went to-to-toe trading legs to setup a final leg decider. Both had darts to take it but it was Will who got over the line to take leg, the match and win the tournament.

Thanks to Deano and Steve fr sorting the food which went down very well.
