Both Lickey teams were in action last night in the latest round of the BDL Summer League. Lickey A were away to The Greenlands in Redditch while Lickey B hosted Queens Head at home.

For Lickey B it was another win amongst an intense atmosphere created by their opponents. Dean Caswell got Lickey on the board first with a 2-1 win in Game 1. In Game 2, Matt Anthony reinforced the advantage making it two wins with a 2-0 victory in his game. In Game 3, Cameron Meakin, took his opponent out 2-0 but Queens Head came back in Game 4 with a 1-2 win against Billy Cowsill. In Game 5, a 180 saw Dylan Rowe brush his opponent aside 2-0 and in Game 6, Mark Wynn-Smith wrapped the match up 2-0.

Into the doubles, Alvin and Dylan lost 1-2. Cameron and Roy Davies won Game 8, 2-1 and Matt and Billy ended the match on a win 2-0 in Game 9. Final score 7-2

It was a similar story for Lickey A who got off to an impressive 0-3 start without losing a leg. Geoff Nokes, Paul Prince and Jason Evans all winning their games. Ed McManus lost Game 4 to give Greenlands a glimmer of a comeback but Steve Groves put Lickey back on track 1-2 including a nice 100 checkout. Gaz Troth wrapped the match up in Game 6 winning 0-2 despite having a 180 against him.

The wins kept coming in the doubles. Paul and Steve won Game 7 0-2, Ed got back to winning ways with Geoff in Game 8 to win 1-2. Game 9 saw Greenlands take a consolation against Jason and Jim Mildner winning it 2-0. Final score 2-7

After 6 league games Lickey A sit 3rd on equal points with Bromsgrove Unionist Club who they face at home next Monday. In Division 3, Lickey B are now steadily making their way up the table after back-to-back wins in their last 2 games.
