Normal darts league action returned last night with Lickey A facing a tough match versus division leaders Lodge Park at home and Lickey B away to South Redditch Ducks.

Geoff Nokes opened Lickey A’s account losing leg 1 but came back strong to take leg 2 however Lodge Park nicked the decider for a 1-2 win. It was a similar story for Ed McManus in Game 2. He lost leg 1, threw some great darts for leg 2 but was undone in leg 3 for another 1-2 loss. In Game 3, Lodge Park opened up a 3-0 lead beating Jason Evans, back in the side after a few weeks out, 0-2. In Game 4, Steve Groves stopped the rot brushing his opponent aside 2-0 with a nice 118 checkout in leg 1. In Game 5, Russell Tolley couldn’t make his finishes count and lost 0-2. We looked to Gaz Troth to save the match in Game 6 but Lodge Park are leading the division for a reason and sealed the match with another 0-2 win.

Into the doubles, Jim Mildner partnered Gaz Troth and made a good game of it taking a leg but lost 1-2. In Game 8, Paul Prince and Steve went toe-to-toe with Lodge Park racking up, ton, ton, ton + 140 in leg 1 but they bagged a nice 118 checkout to take it. Paul had darts for leg 2 but miscalculated handing Lodge Park a chance and the game 0-2. In the final game, Geoff and Ed saved us some blushes taking it 2-0. Final Score 2-7.

For Lickey B, they ground out their first win of the season.

In Game 1, Matt ‘Hayley’ Anthony kicked off for Lickey with a 1-2 win. Dean Caswell backed it up in Game 2 with another 1-2 win. In Game 3, South Redditch came back beating Mark Wynn-Smith 2-1 and then levelled the score in Game 4 with Billy Cowsill losing 2-0. In Game 5 Dylan nudged Lickey ahead again but South Redditch levelled the scores immediately beating Cameron Meakin 2-0 to make it 3-3 going into the doubles.

In Game 7 Dean and Cam undid a strong South Redditch duo to take it 0-2 and win a pivotal game. South Redditch then hit back again 2-0 against Alvin Holland and Matt to take it to a last game decider. In a nervy match, Dylan and Colin McKinley got Lickey over the line 2-0 for a 4-5 final score and a morale boosting win!
