Both of our darts teams were back in action again tonight before a break next week for the Bank Holiday.
Lickey A were at home to Rubery MC. Both teams were on exactly the same points and leg difference in the league so it looked like it could be an even match on paper.
In Game 1, Ed McManus opened Lickey’s account with a 2-0 win. In Game 2, Geoff ‘Dizzy’ Nokes struggled to get going and lost his match 0-2. In Game 3, Paul Prince made a match of it but struggled in the last leg to lose it 1-2. In Game 4, Steve Groves restored parity with a strong 2-0 win. Jim Mildner stepped up for Game 4 and ground out a brilliant 2-1 win to put Lickey back in the lead which was strengthened by a 2-0 display from Gaz Troth in Game 6.
4-2 into the doubles and Lickey were in control. Rubery fielded a strong duet in Game 7 and Geoff and Jim had darts to take it and win the match but they eventually lost a close one 1-2. In Game 8 Paul and Steve were the pair picked to get Lickey over the line but a wobble in leg 1 gave Rubery the chance to steal it but Lickey clawed their way back into the it and won 2-1. In the final game, Gaz and Ed teamed up for another close affair eventually running out winners with a showboat finish from Gaz on 5. Single 3, waste a dart, double 1.
For Lickey B it was a tough night losing 8-1 to Blackwell. In Game 1, Dylan Rowe lost 2-0 and it was similar scorelines for Colin McKinley and Dean Caswell in Games 2 and 3 too. In Game 4, Mark Wynn-Smith took a leg for 1-2 but it wasn’t until Game 5 Lickey got on the board with a 1-2 win from Steven Brunn. In Game 6, Craig Jones lost 1-2 handing the match to Blackwell. Into the doubles and it was more despair. In Game 7 Dean and Dylan lost 2-1, it was 2-0 for Alvin Holland and Colin in Game 8 and Roy Davies and Mark lost the final game 2-1
8-1 final score. One to forget.
