Last night saw the opening night of the new LESC Summer Darts League thanks to the club’s recent investment in additional boards.
12 Players signed on for a group + knockout match format that saw the top 2 players from each group progress to a winners KO and losers playing a consolation KO phase too, all earning ranking points for the league which comprises the best 4 of 5 events over the next few months.
In Group 1, Geoff ‘Dizzy’ Nokes qualified top with Gaz Troth. In Group 2 Steve Groves blasted his way through Group 2 unbeaten taking Paul Prince with him and in Group 3 Russell Tolley progressed with Alvin Holland.

In the Losers KO, Jim Mildner beat Matt Wynn-Smith 2-0 and Steve Brunn beat Dean Caswell 2-1 in the quarter-finals to meet Teddy Glaze and Mark Wynn-Smith in the semi-finals respectively courtesy of byes each.
Our youngest player Teddy squeezed past Jim 2-1 in the first semi and it was similar story for Mark who narrowly beat Steve to progess to the consolation final.
In the main KO, Russ Tolley took a tight match 2-1 against Paul Prince in the first quarter-final and Steve Groves took out Alvin Holland 2-0 in the other match.
In the first semi-final Geoff won a tight match 2-1 vs Russ and Gaz Troth undid Steve Groves 2-1 in their match to setup a final between Geoff and Gaz, a repeat of their group game.
In the Losers KO final which was best of 5, Mark Wynn-Smith took out the win in style with a 3-0 final score.
In the main final, it was repeat of the group game with Geoff taking the honours and the overall win with a 3-0 score

From a league rankings perspective, Geoff goes top but all to play for
