After the Christmas and New Year break, the Lickey End Darts Teams were back in action this week.
The B Team started 2026 in winning form taking a hard fought 5-4 Home win against the Dog and Pheasant.
In Game 1, Dylan Rowe kicked things off with a 2-1 win backed up by Colin Mckinley in Game 2 with another 2-1 win. Roy Davies lost his game 0-2 but wins from Matt Anthony and Alvin Holland, 2-0 and 2-1 respectively made it 4-2 after the singles. Lickey could only field 5 players, so Game 6 was a bye to the Dog.

The Dog and Pheasant mounted a comeback in the doubles winning the first two matches. Dylan and Matt lost 1-2, then Roy and Dylan lost 1-2 again. The match was poised at 4-4 going into the last match but Colin and Alvin kept their composure and saw out a 2-1 win to take the match.

It was a story of what-ifs for the A Team who were away at Alvechurch. At home it was a close 5-4 loss last time so on paper it was another 50/50 match which could go either way.

Geoff Nokes featured in Game 1 but was a bit off and lost 2-0. In Game 2 Paul Read had opportunities to punish a slow start for Alvechurch but couldn’t convert them and lost 2-0 too. In Game 3, Paul Prince lost leg 1 and then couldn’t get away in Leg 2 for another 2-0 defeat. In Game 4 Steve Groves steadied the Lickey ship winning 2-1with a nice 140 score in there. Game 5 was another struggle with Jason Evans losing 2-1 and Gaz Troth lost Game 6 2-0 despite a 112 away.

In the doubles, Russ Tolley and Paul Read rattled in some 100’s to take their game 1-2. Alvechurch hit back next with a 2-1 win against Geoff and Jim Mildner in a game littered with some big scores and a 92 away. In the last game, Steve and Gaz took out a 0-2 win to bring the final score back to 6-3. It was a match we could have and should have won on paper but like the rest of the season, some results have been close and just not gone our way. Their tough season in Division 1 continues.
