Another rough ride for our darts teams this week. Lickey B had to forfeit their match due to a lack of players available, and Lickey A faced Greenland Arrows at home, a team stacked with talent and experience.

In Game 1, Geoff Nokes banged out a superb Leg 1 with an 84 checkout to put Greenlands on the back foot, but this seemed to wake the giant as they banged in a 100, and a couple of 140’s to take the next 2 for the win. It was a similar story for Ed MacManus in Game 2, a strong first leg taken out with a 102, gave way to a powerful comeback from Greenlands to take it 1-2 again. In Game 3, Steve Groves went toe-to-toe with his opponent. He lost leg 1 but bounced back for leg 2 and had darts for the game only for Greenlands to sneak it for another 1-2 win. In Game 4, captain Jason Evans gave Lickey a chance with a commanding 2-0 win while Paul Read and Gaz Troth lost their matches 0-2 each to give Greenlands a 1-5 lead going into the doubles.

Game 7 saw Gaz and Paul Prince team up but a strong Greenlands and a laboured performance from Lickey handed them a 0-2 win. For Game 8, Jason and Steve won their match with a clean 2-0 scoreline making Jason unbeaten for the night and in the final match, Greenlands saw Geoff and Ed off winning 0-2. Final score 2-7.
Every week, the Lickey End Darts teams and their opponents enjoy a small post-match buffet. It’s easy to take it for granted but we are always grateful and last night we showed our appreciation presenting Noreen with a bouquet of flowers to say thank you for the work and support she gives us behind the scenes. On behalf of both teams, thank you Noreen x

The darts league takes a Christmas break now and resumes on Jan 5th
