The Lickey End Darts Teams were back in action this week in games, on paper, should have been very close and they didn’t disappoint.
Lickey End A were Home to Queens Head. In Game 1 Ed McManus got Lickey on the board snatching a 2-1 win including an impressive 116 away. Game 2, Queens Head levelled with a 0-2 win over Geoff Nokes. Game 3 was easily the best match of the night with big scores from both players. Steve Groves had 93 and 116 aways respectively + a 140 in his legs but Queens Head were no push over scoring 133, 95 and a 160 away too. But in the end, Steve prevailed for a 2-1 win. Game 4, Paul Prince lost a scrappy first leg, but a couple of tons saw him get over the line for a 2-1 win in his match. In the last two games, Jason Evans and Gaz Troth lost 0-2 respectively to some Queens Head quality making the score level at 3-3 going into the doubles.
In Game 7, Paul and Steve were a whisker away from winning their game in another high scorer peppered with ton+ scores, 140’s and a 180. However, both teams faltered on the doubles in the deciding leg and Queens Head snatched it 1-2. Game 7 saw Queens Head take the match overall with a 0-2 win over Jason and Paul Read but in the final game of the night Geoff and Gaz brought the scoreline back to 4-5 with a 2-0 win.
Final score 4-5 to Queens Head but it was such a close match. A great night of darts.
Lickey End B travelled to Blackwell for their match. In Game 1 Blackwell struck first with a 2-1 win over Anthony Theophanus but some Lickey class in Games 2 and 3 saw Dylan Rowe and Colin McKinley brush Blackwell aside 0-2 each in their games. In Game 4 Blackwell showed they were up for the fight with a 2-0 win over Alvin Holland to bring the score level. Game 5, saw Matt Anthony win 0-2 to put Lickey in the lead again which was reinforced just before the doubles by Craig Jones with a 1-2 win in his match.
At 2-4, Lickey only needed one more win to get over the line. Matt and Colin lost the first doubles match 2-0 giving Blackwell a sniff of a comeback but Dylan and Craig sealed the win in the next game to go winning it 0-2. Lickey lost the last game with Alvin and Theo 0-2 but it didn’t matter, the win was in the bag.
Final score 4-5. Well done lads!
