This week the Darts teams were back in League action for Match 3 of the Winter League.
The A Team were home to Alvechurch who were a player short which gave Gaz Troth a bye and a win for Lickey before a dart had even been thrown. The first two games featured Geoff Nokes and Ed MacManus and could have gone either way. Geoff turned in a 90 finish to win a leg and Ed banged in a couple of tons but both were undone 1-2. In Game 3 Paul Prince played well but failed to take his doubles unlike his opponent who took out two high scoring finishes to win 0-2. Game 4 saw another unsettled Steve Groves lose 1-2 before captain Jason Evans took a nice 2-0 win in his match and restore some faith.
Into the doubles the match was poised at 2-4. Jason teamed up with Geoff but lost the first match 1-2 handing Alvechurch the win. In the next game Ed and Gaz battled out another close match but lost 1-2. And In the final game, a resurgent Steve peppered the board with a string of tons and Paul finished of both legs to win 2-1. Final score 3-6.
The B Team were away to the Dog & Pheasant and continued a great start to their league campaign. An ill Dylan Rowe lost 2-1 in the first match but Craig Jones immediately squared things with a 0-2 win. In Game 3 Roy Davies made a rare appearance in the singles and lost a close game 2-1 but Matt Anthony, Colin McKinley and Alvin Holland put Lickey back in the lead with three consecutive wins 0-2, 1-2 and 0-2 respectively.
With a 2-4 lead going into the doubles, Lickey looked in control but Dog & Pheasant turned up the pressure with a 2-1 win in the first game featuring Dylan and Alvin. However, in the next game, a solid 0-2 win by Craig and Colin sealed the match. The final game saw Matt and Roy lose 2-1. Final score 4-5. Lickey ground out another win and shows how close their division is.
