Week 2 of the Bromsgrove Winter Dart League took place last night with both teams in action. The A team took a trip to Greenland Arrows in Redditch. Up against outright winners of the Summer League, the A Team faced a tough battle and arguably the best team in the league. Greenlands took an early 0-2 lead in the match winning games 1 and 2. Team Captain Jason Evans bagged a leg in game 3 and was unfortunate to lose taking the match score out to 0-3. Then Steve Groves reeled off a 2-0 win in his game to bring it back to 1-3 and Geoff Nokes put in a solid effort to win a very close game 2-1 to make the overall score 2-3. Greenlands then took game 6 to make it 2-4 overall.
Into the doubles and Greenlands secured the overall win winning the first game. Jason and Geoff doubled up to win a high scoring game 2-1 and a Greenlands win in the last game meant a final score of 3-6 which, given the quality of the team, was a good night’s work for the A Team.
The B Team faced new league team Bank Cafe from Astwood Bank at Home. It was a close affair the last time they played in a friendly earlier this year and this match was no exception. Bank took the first game but Lickey quickly responded with a 2-0 win from new player Matt Anthony. Dylan Rowe made it two games on the bounce to take the lead but Bank levelled, beating Craig Jones despite him taking a leg. Colin Mckinley nudged the team ahead again in game 5 with a 2-1 win only for Bank to respond again and draw the match level at 3-3 with a 1-2 win in game 6 against captain Alvin Holland.
