The Bromsgrove Darts League Winter Season kicked off on Monday with both darts teams in action for Lickey End. The winter match format consists of 6 singles matches 301 double-in & out and 3 doubles matches 501 double-in & out.

The B Team, playing in Division 3, kicked off their season in winning form taking a fine 4 – 5 win away at Golden Lion.  There were singles wins from new team member Craig Jones, Colin Mckinley and Dylan Rowe. Craig and Dylan then doubled up for a win in their doubles match to take the lead. Golden Lion responded to bring the match score back to 4 – 4 and down to the last game where Colin teamed up with captain Alvin Holland to take the win. A great start to their first winter season.

The A Team, who were unexpectedly promoted to Division 1 due to teams dropping out of the league faced stiff competition against Studley Con Club. They lost 8 – 1 at home but the match score hides some very close games and great individual performances in what is now the top top tier. Steve Groves took his singles match and bagging a 180 en-route to the win. On paper it could be a tough season ahead for the A Team in Div 1 but last night’s performances demonstrated they can hold their own and had chances to win.
